First up was a visit to The Irish American Heritage Museum and then an unscheduled visit to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where we marvelled at the completed restoration work there. Congratulations Albany. From there we headed to The Egg for our sound check and band call. The Egg Auditorium is part of a much bigger modern 60s complex of government offices and amenities. It’s a wonderfully designed auditorium (with a smaller 500 seater built below). Jean Leonard joined us as our Guest Soprano and she lived up to all our expectations. Staff at The Egg were more than helpful and we ate the most divine braised beef for dinner before the concert. Our compliments to the Chef. Met some lovely people after the show at our meet and greet with PBS. By end if concert we were told our flights next day to Boston had been cancelled! Tom, our tour manager, began to feverishly look for plan B to get us there. Will let you know how that worked out in next blog.

Notices at The Egg, Albany. The 10 piece band under Fergus Sheil’s direction were a pleasure to hear and work with. Our soloist, Patricia O’Callaghan, we suspect some Irish blood there, sang beautifully. Upwards and onwards Patricia! More pics to follow and an audioboo. Have arrived in Albany for concert tonight but, first of all, we are guests of the Museum for a chance to meet and greet the citizens of Albany.

Us and the Canadian flag in downtown Toronto getting in the mood...

Us and the Canadian flag in downtown Toronto getting in the mood for our concert in the Roy Thompson Hall.

Kids from Michigan wave at our passing airplane from Chicago to...

Kids from Michigan wave at our passing airplane from Chicago to Toronto

After Chicago we've arrived in Toronto

listen to ‘After Chicago we’ve arrived in Toronto’ on Audioboo

Lovely theatre right smack downtown. Great band behind us and a gorgeous Leah Edmonston Dyer as our solo soprano guest artist. Firstly, we were warmly welcomed by Dawn, the lady who almost single handedly runs The Park Theater in Cranston. We had a great ensemble who will be playing for us in Boston and a great Soprano in Maria Ferrante, who will also join us again I’m Boston. The Park Theater was almost sold out and we had the opportunity to meet and greet some of the audience after the show. Met a priest who is now working in Cranston but who studied with one or two of our mote senior colleagues in Down & Connor. Make the world feel very small when this happens! Leaving early in the morning for Collingswood Scottish RiteTheatre and another memorable concert. Tom, our tour manager, is a gem.
